SALISBURY, N.C. – The FLW Bass Fishing League is headed to High Rock Lake May 22 for the third of five stops in the Piedmont Division series. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $8,000 and $3,000, respectively.

“High Rock Lake is a great lake to fish; this should be a fun tournament,” said FLW Tour pro Bryan Thrift of Shelby, N.C., who just won the FLW Tour event on Lake Norman in March and is currently No. 1 in the Tour’s points standings. “There are just a lot of fish, all largemouth, to be caught. It’s just so much fun to catch those hawgs!

“It’s a shallow lake, so anglers should target docks, lay-downs and bushes. I would stick with topwater, jigs, and crankbaits; just about anything will work.”

Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Tamarac Marina & Campground located at 9120 Bringle Ferry Road in Salisbury, N.C. Takeoff is scheduled for 6 a.m., while weigh-in will begin at 2 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering even bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the American Fishing Series or even the FLW Tour.
