GREERS FERRY, Ark. – The FLW Bass Fishing League is headed to Greers Ferry Lake May 15 for the third of five stops in the Arkie Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will compete for top awards of up to $8,000 and $3,000, respectively.

“The lake’s up about 2 or 3 feet, and there’s a lot of water in the bushes,” said Chevy pro Larry Nixon of Bee Branch, Ark. “There’s going to be certain areas where guys will be able to flip for certain.

“There’s also smallmouth that are moving in on pea gravel points where there’s some chunk rock around,” Nixon added. “You can catch them early in the morning on a Carolina rig or a tube.”

Takeoff and weigh-in will be at the Dam Site Marina located at 319 Heber Spring North Road in Heber Springs, Ark. Takeoff is scheduled for 7 a.m. while weigh-in will begin at 3 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Greers Ferry Lake BFL tournament is being hosted by the Heber Springs Chamber of Commerce.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering even bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the American Fishing Series or even the FLW Tour.
