JASPER, Texas – The Bass Fishing League is headed to Sam Rayburn Reservoir April 24 for the third of five stops in the Cowboy Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for top awards of up to $8,000 and $3,000, respectively.

“Warm weather has stabilized conditions on the lake and has helped improve the bite,” said FLW Tour pro Jason Reyes of Huffman, Texas, who has two top-10 finishes at Sam Rayburn. “Anglers will want to stay in 4 to 6 feet of water inside bushes. I would stick with flipping soft plastics in this tournament; fish will either be spawning or postspawn. Sight-fishing on beds should dominate.

“The wind could play a big factor in this tournament as well. If a light wind picks up, the bite will increase and it could take about 22 pounds to win.”

Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Twin Dikes Park located at 4842 RR 255 West in Browndell, Texas. Takeoff is scheduled for 6 a.m., while weigh-in will begin at 2 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Sam Rayburn Reservoir BFL tournament is being hosted by the Jasper/Sam Rayburn Chamber of Commerce.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering even bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the American Fishing Series or even the FLW Tour.
