EUFAULA, Okla. – The Bass Fishing League is headed to Eufaula Lake April 24 for the first of five stops in the Okie Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for top awards of up to $8,000 and $3,000, respectively.

“Fish will be spawn and postspawn,” said FLW Tour pro Jason Christie of Park Hill, Okla., who has six BFL wins including one on Eufaula Lake. “Anglers should be looking for spawn pockets in 0 to 5 feet of water; the tournament is going to be won on the spawn banks. It’s going to take 18 to 20 pounds to win this thing.

“I would stick with spinnerbaits. The smallmouths have really not been biting on Eufaula for the past year or two. If someone can get on a smallmouth bite, it could really turn this thing around; they won’t be small, that’s for sure.”

Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Southport Marina located at Highway 9 East in Eufaula, Okla. Takeoff is scheduled for 7 a.m., while weigh-in will begin at 3 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The Eufaula Lake BFL tournament is being hosted by the City of Eufaula.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering even bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the American Fishing Series or even the FLW Tour.
