EUFAULA, Ala. – Before the top-five pro finalists headed out onto Lake Eufaula for the last day of the FLW Series event, they were making final preparations to their tackle, arranging their arsenal for another day of battle.

Here’s a quick look at the lures pros have been using this week.

Third place pro Bryan Thrift was adding a bright blue trailer to his mainstay jig. He’s been fishing the jig in 6 to 10 feet of water on stumps and brush. Not pictured is his vibrating jig that he has been using to fish shallow docks and laydowns.Tom Monsoor

Fourth place pro Tom Monsoor displayed a spread of homemade spinnerbaits and swim jigs.

“I’ve got so many out because I’m fishing docks,” Monsoor said. “One bad cast against a piling or beam and it mangles the bait. This way I can just reach down and pick up another one.”

Second place pro Lloyd Pickett had all his Zoom plastics – Brush Hogs and lizards – ready for the Carolina rig.

“I’m rigging pretty shallow, sometimes in as little as a foot of water,” Pickett said. “Whenever I’m blindcasting for pre-spawn and spawning bass, a Carolina rig is my bait.”

And last, but certainly not least, tournament leader Alan Hults had his chatterbaits, swim jig and Berkley Chigger Craw lined up and ready to go.

A look at Alan Hults“It’s the same things I’ve been throwing here for years,” Hults said. “Earlier in the week, the chatterbaits were better, but as the water has come up, flipping the Chigger Craw has been better.”
