SMYRNA, Tenn. – The FLW Bass Fishing League is headed to Percy Priest Lake March 6 for the first of five stops in the Music City Division. As many as 400 boaters and co-anglers will be competing for top awards of up to $8,000 and $3,000, respectively.

“With the cold temperatures and the amount of rain we have had recently, the water is going to be dingy,” said Goodwill pro Wesley Strader of Spring City, Tenn. “I think the tournament is going to be won on the lower end of the lake with a jerkbait.

“The fish are in transition right now, and the anglers that can figure out where the staging areas are will be the most successful. Spring fishing can be tough, but it’s usually the time of year when the biggest fish are caught as the females are coming up to spawn. However, with the hard winter that we have had this year, everything is delayed; fish are either going to be caught or not.”

Takeoff and weigh-in will be at Fate Sanders Marina located at 3157 Weakley Lane in Smyrna, Tenn. Takeoff will be at 7 a.m., while the weigh-in is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. Takeoffs and weigh-ins are free and open to the public.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, offering even bigger prizes to those who qualify for regional championships and those who make it to one of the longest-running championships in all of competitive bass fishing – the BFL All-American presented by Chevy. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the American Fishing Series or even the FLW Tour.
