The cream has finally risen to the top.
After a long, hard-fought and emotionally exhilarating FLW Outdoors tournament season, 77 of the world’s top bass pros have finally earned their place in history, officially qualifying for the 2009 Forrest Wood Cup – one the most lucrative and prestigious bass-fishing championship in the nation.
While the $2 million total purse and potential $1 million payday for first-place will get plenty of attention, the quality of this year’s championship field is just as staggering. With the likes of legendary anglers Larry Nixon, Jay Yelas and Clark Wendlandt; rising stars Brent Ehrler, Luke Clausen and Michael Bennett; and world-renowned Japanese pros Shinichi Fukae and Takahiro Omori all squaring off during the sport’s ultimate fishing championship, bass-fishing fans couldn’t have asked for much more. Throw fan favorite Michael Iaconelli, multiple Anglers of the Year and some long-shot Cup rookies into the mix and there is little doubt that the 2009 Forrest Wood Cup has the potential to be one of the greatest sporting events of the year.
