COLUMBIA, S.C. – Fantasy sports will never be the same. That’s because the first fantasy sport to score the first million-dollar winner is not – believe it or not – fantasy football, but fantasy fishing. And you can watch a fantasy-fishing player become an instant millionaire today online!

Some may laugh, but FLW Fantasy Fishing is real and it is revolutionizing fantasy sports and pro bass fishing. Introduced earlier this year, FLW Fantasy Fishing is sponsored by consumer marketers such as Walmart, BP, Chevy, and Proctor & Gamble and has attracted players from all over the world.

Today, FLW Fantasy Fishing will announce the champion of its first seven-tournament season in the heart of bass country: Columbia, S.C. The event begins at 11 a.m. Eastern time with the winner to be announced at noon. Coverage of the entire event is available online through FLW Live.

And with the championship comes a guaranteed $1 million payout, the most ever awarded in a fantasy sports game. That’s on top of seven $100,000 payouts awarded to the winners of the fantasy game’s seven individual tournaments and more than 4,000 other prizes. The fantasy fishing game has even awarded prizes to players in Australia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Japan, Poland and even Estonia.

Before each tournament, fantasy-fishing players to go FantasyFishing.com and pick 10 bass pros who participate in the nation’s top professional bass fishing circuit, the Walmart FLW Tour. The next season of fantasy fishing will kick off in February with the start of the 2009 FLW Tour.

“FLW Fantasy Fishing has been one of the best things that ever happened to pro bass fishing and for bass fishing in general,” said bass pro Michael Bennett, who won $1 million after claiming victory at the 2008 Forrest Wood Cup championship, the pinnacle of professional bass fishing. “It’s setting a new benchmark and attracting new fans to our sport.”
