MINNEAPOLIS – Tune in Sunday, July 8, to “FLW Outdoors” on FSN for the conclusion of the $1.5 million Wal-Mart Open on Beaver Lake in Rogers, Ark. Watch as FSN takes viewers through the final weigh-in and awards the winning pro angler $200,000. The one-hour show is the second of a two-part series covering the fourth event of the $9.5 million FLW Tour season.

After three days of competition on the deep, clear Ozark impoundment, the tournament is looking like Jay Yelas’ to lose. Yelas has been throwing a swimbait in and around one dock in Prairie Creek all week. That dock holds the fate of the 2007 Wal-Mart Open under its floats. At night, shad gather around the dock to spawn, and at the break of day, hordes of largemouth bass rush the dock for an easy meal. The Tyler, Texas, resident has relied on that dock to produce consistent five-bass limits. On day three, the fish were right on schedule and Yelas was there to take advantage. The result was a limit that weighed 11 pounds, 13 ounces and a lead of 2 pounds, 7 ounces heading into the final day of competition. Tune is as Yelas, the 2002 Land O’Lakes Angler of the Year, attempts to claim his first FLW Tour victory.

Behind Yelas is Duracell pro Andy Morgan. The Dayton, Tenn., native is running, gunning and junk-Andy Morgan grinded past Jay Yelas for the win with five fish for 8 pounds.fishing at an accelerated pace and has adopted a take-or-leave-it attitude toward the fish. Although he is second, Morgan is somewhat disappointed with his performance thus far. On day three, he caught a limit using a 1/8-ounce shaky head, but it weighed only 9 pounds, 6 ounces. His co-angler partner caught 11 pounds, 13 ounces in the same area on day three, an indication that the quality fish are there for the taking. If Morgan can get all his bites in the boat, he too has a chance at claiming the $200,000 first-place purse.

In fourth place is Bounty pro Jacob Powroznik, who is in the midst of the best season of his young bass fishing career. The Virginia angler used a Tru-Tungsten shaky head to make the top 10, but once he reached the finals, he has shifted his focus to schooling fish. More specifically, he’s targeting largemouths by throwing a swimbait around Rocky Branch Marina. In this all-access feature, Powroznik gives viewers an inside look at his preparation the night before the final day of the tournament.

FSN also flashes back to the 2004 Wal-Mart Open on Beaver Lake. That year, rookie pro Tim Klinger took a veteran FLW Tour field by storm. Targeting prespawn bass, Klinger flipped shallow water brush piles with a brown, 3/8-ounce pig and jig en route to a six-figure payday.

In addition, Castrol pro Bobby Curtis of Siloam Springs, Ark., participates in this edition of Fishing 101. Curtis, who lives near Beaver Lake, gives viewers tips on how to customize jigs for clear, deep lakes.
