REDDING, Calif. – The cold front came, but little inclement weather will affect the fishing for day two of Stren Series Western Division competition at Lake Shasta.

Anglers have been paying keen attention to the forecast since this tournament started. Many were hoping that the front moving through would bring some wind, rain or at least some cloud cover so they could break out the swimbaits and go after the big spotted bass.

However, the cold front has arrived and that’s about all it has delivered so far: a little cold. It was another bluebird day over the lake Thursday morning, and that means the slow-fishing, worming war of attrition will continue at this tightly contested limitfest.

For some, though, that’s not necessarily bad news. Notable Arizona pro Brett Hite caught 10 pounds exactly Wednesday and sits solidly in contention in 23rd place, and that’s exactly what he hopes to continue doing.

“Yeah, I had a good day,” he said. “If I can catch 10 pounds every day, I’ll be happy.”

The question remains: Will 10 pounds a day for three days straight be enough to make the top-10 cut? Whatever happens, it’s going to be tight.

Day-two weigh-in festivities begin at 3 p.m. Pacific time at Bridge Bay Marina located at 10300 Bridge Bay Road in Redding, Calif.
