Local Wal-Mart stores to host FLW Tour pro night

ROGERS, Ark. – Fishing fans will have the opportunity to meet some of the most talented anglers in the world of competitive bass fishing at five Wal-Mart stores in the Rogers, Ark., area April 3.

The world-class anglers will be signing autographs, posing for photos and offering fishing tips to store visitors during the two-hour event, which precedes the FLW Tour’s $1.25 million Wal-Mart Open powered by Tyson on Beaver Lake in Rogers April 5-8.

Among the pros participating will be Wal-Mart pro George Cochran of Hot Springs, Ark., who won the 2005 FLW Tour Championship on Lake Hamilton and has accumulated well over $1 million in career earnings. Cochran has long been one of the most recognized anglers on tour, and in addition to his impressive resume on the FLW Tour, has two Bassmaster Classic wins to his credit. Cochran will be speaking at the Wal-Mart store located at 2110 West Walnut St. in Rogers.

Kellogg’s pro Kim Bain, now of Alabaster, Ala., but originally from Brisbane, Australia, will be among the anglers speaking at the Wal-Mart located at 3919 N. Mall Ave. in Fayetteville, Ark. Bain has done well fishing the FLW Tour, as well as the Wal-Mart FLW Redfish Series, and is quickly becoming one of the most recognized figures in the sport.

Fishing fans visiting the Wal-Mart located at 2004 South Pleasant in Springdale, Ark., will have the opportunity to meet anglers such as Castrol pro Darrell Robertson of Jay, Okla., who has more than $1 million in FLW Outdoors earnings to his credit and has three top-10 finishes in various FLW Outdoors tournaments on Beaver Lake.

Kellogg’s pro Sam Newby will be speaking at the Wal-Mart store located at 406 S. Walton Blvd. in Bentonville, Ark. Newby has three FLW Outdoors wins to his credit, including an FLW Tour win on Lake Champlain and the 2005 Stren Series Championship on Pickwick Lake.

At the Wal-Mart store located at 4208 Pleasant Crossing Blvd. in Rogers, Fujifilm pro Wesley Strader of Spring City, Tenn., will be among the anglers speaking. Strader has been fishing FLW Outdoors events since 1995, and in that time he has garnered 20 top-10 finishes, including two wins.
