If the Wal-Mart FLW Walleye Tour event set for May 19-21 on Green Bay goes the way pro Tom Keenan of Hatley, Wis., thinks it will, anglers are going to need to average about 35 pounds per day just to survive the top-10 cut.

Translation: “This is an incredible fishery,” Keenan said. “This tournament will show people what Green Bay is made of.”

While a few anglers are likely to find quality fish in the Fox River, Keenan predicts the better hauls will come from main-lake rock piles located 40 miles or less from weigh-in, mostly on metallic-pattern Husky Jerks, Thundersticks and spinner/crawler harness rigs. The best depth range will be 15 to 20 feet.

Keenan’s call: 105 pounds to make the cut; 145 pounds to win.
