Pros and co-anglers alike are hoping to find the Ouachita River at normal flow or slightly above when they arrive for this FLW Tour stop. The Ouachita is a small river system that is heavily influenced by the Saline River as well as a host of tributaries and streams.

If water flows are normal and the shallow backwaters are clear, pro Greg Hackney of Gonzales, La., expects to see plenty of quality limits caught in shallow water.

Anglers who fish the Monroe pool will be targeting wood cover (stumps and lay-downs). Those who lock through into the Arkansas pool will find a mecca of aquatic weeds and wood for working jigs, tubes, spinnerbaits and shallow-diving cranks. The Felsenthal Wildlife Refuge can be especially good, so long as river flows don’t get out of control.
