The pressure is back on for day three of the EverStart Series Eastern event

MANNING, S.C. – After a day of “taking it easy” and “just practicing” yesterday, the leaders of the Santee Cooper EverStart Series event will be back in high gear today trying to make the top-10 cut.

Leader Scott Dameron of Ghent, W. Va., says he hopes to catch about 15 pounds today to make the top-10 cut. “Right now, all I want to do is put that first keeper in the boat,” he said. “If I get a limit, then I’ll start thinking about conserving fish.”

Jacob Powroznik of Prince George, Va., currently in fourth, says he would not ease off his best place until he had 16 or 17 pounds.

Local angler Ricky Shumpert of Lexington, S.C., is shooting for only 12 pounds. “I think 12 pounds will be enough to fish Saturday,” he said. “I would feel comfortable with that.”

The top 20 pros and co-anglers headed out for another beautiful day on Santee Cooper lakes this morning. The buzz around the ramp was wind, which is forecasted to blow 10 to 20 mph from the southwest today.

“I really worried about the wind,” said Sandy Melvin of Boca Grande, Fla., who is in second place. “Where I am fishing, it can hurt me.”

Anglers can look forward to highs around 80 and a few more clouds today.

The day-three weigh-in will be held at the Manning Wal-Mart at 4 p.m.
