Lake Okeechobee patterns to be explored

MINNEAPOLIS – FLW Outdoors’ television show will make its 2003 debut Saturday on the Outdoor Life Network with a preview of the Wal-Mart FLW Tour season opener presented by EverStart Batteries on Lake Okeechobee in Florida. “FLW Outdoors” hosts Carlton Wing, Taylor Carr and Charlie Evans will also welcome two exciting new additions to the show, veteran outdoor programming host Hank Parker and angling superstar Larry Nixon.

Parker and the “FLW Outdoors” team will preview every event of the $5.76 million Wal-Mart FLW Tour this season. Parker will also get the inside story from some top tour anglers to give viewers a unique look at the patterns and techniques that top pros are likely to use as they compete for a $100,000 first prize on Lake Okeechobee. Following each tournament, Nixon and the “FLW Outdoors” team will recap the event with detailed on-the-water analysis of winning strategies and tactics used by top finishers.

Guests this week include Team Stanley Works pros Scott Martin and David Walker. Martin is a native of Clewiston, Fla., who has fished the FLW Tour for the last five years and earned one tour victory. Walker, who lives in Sevierville, Tenn., is a longtime FLW Tour pro and past Land O’Lakes Angler of the Year. Nixon, who fishes for the Chevy Pro Staff and holds the distinction of being the first professional bass angler to surpass $1 million in career earnings, will also be featured on the program.

The Outdoor Life Network will broadcast “FLW Outdoors” Saturdays from 7-8 p.m. EST and again Sundays from 1-2 p.m. EST. Check local listings for show times and channels in your area.

During each tournament show, Wing and Carr will go on location to provide on-the-water coverage. While tournament weigh-ins will broadcast live at Wal-Mart stores throughout the country, “FLW Outdoors” will be tape-delayed by exactly one week to bring audiences nationwide the best tournament footage possible throughout the season.
