Nixon details upcoming `FLW Outdoors’ television season

DALLAS – The focus of Sunday’s “FLW Outdoors Presented by Wal-Mart” on Fox Sports Radio will be Cowboys running back Emmitt Smith. Smith is a mere 93 yards away from breaking the career rushing record of 16,727 yards set by the Chicago Bears’ celebrated former running back Walter Payton. Focusing on the feat will be Fox Sports Net’s own Nick Eatman, Mike Fisher and Bob Matuszak as well as former Cowboys fullback Daryl “Moose” Johnston. After discussing football, the crew will shift gears to talk fish with Larry Nixon of Bee Branch, Ark., a two-time Wal-Mart FLW Tour champion.

Eatman, a frequent FLW radio show guest and DallasCowboys.com writer; Fisher, a nationally known sports broadcaster; and Matuszak, Fisher’s radio show producer, will discuss the Cowboys’ Sunday game against the Seattle Seahawks, which is scheduled for noon CST. Nixon will talk about the new “FLW Outdoors” television show he will host in 2003 on the Outdoor Life Network. Nixon will appear alongside another legendary angler and his co-host, Hank Parker.

Beginning Sunday at 10 a.m. CST, “FLW Outdoors Presented by Wal-Mart” hosts Keith Lebowitz and Travis Smith will discuss the 2002 NFC East season as well as a variety of sports- and outdoor-related issues with their noted guests.

Smith will likely be the seventh player in NFL history to be named the all-time rushing leader, taking the designation from Payton. Eatman will join Fisher, who has been covering professional sports for 20-plus years, and Matuszak, a Dallas sports expert, to debate Smith’s chances of taking the title during Sunday’s game. Johnston, who is credited with blocking to open many holes for Smith, will also voice his opinion on Smith’s record-making chances. Nixon, who has won more than $450,000 during his five-year tenure with the Wal-Mart FLW Tour, will talk about life on the tour and the upcoming 2003 season.

“FLW Outdoors Presented by Wal-Mart” is broadcast on Fox Sports 1190 AM throughout Texas and parts of Oklahoma from KTRA in Dallas.
